We leave the hustle and bustle of our jobs, the traffic and the stresses of our lives. We may have even taken a long trip or live several months of the year in other places around the world. Like a horse heading home for the barn, we anticipate with excitement going over the bridge onto Balboa Island.
And, oh that bridge, you know the one--with flowers and flags and a little saying on the marque. The bridge that softly rolls you onto Marine Ave, the historic main street with majestic and iconic eucalyptus trees that have lined the street since the 1920’s. As we go past the candy store and ice cream shops, we see each street named after a gem, and we know we’re home.
If you are one of the lucky ones to own a cottage on Balboa Island, you pinch yourself every day as a reminder of how fortunate you really are. What does it mean to live The Cottage Life and how do cottages on Balboa Island play an important role in our own history and the history of Balboa Island?
